Luckily, the Blu-ray transfer of Swamp Thing does a fantastic job of correcting the problem, and while the series is still dark, you can see what’s happening now.
It’s a nice moment both narratively and visually for The Strain, allowing director Peter Weller to really shine, despite the dullness of a lackluster script.
And unfortunately, so far in The Strain (11 episodes in to a 13-episode season!!) we’re being teased with classic vampire action, but are being hampered by clichés and characters that just don’t add anything to the story.
On the plus side, when it was good, it was really good. Unfortunately it also meandered around, wasted a lot of time, and fell back on a couple of what are becoming standardized Strain clichés.
