Karma Waltonen teaches writing and literature at the University of California, Davis, including classes on The Simpsons and Stand-Up Comedy. She is the co-author of The Simpsons in the Classroom: Embiggening the Learning Experience with the Wisdom of Springfield (2010) and the editor of Margaret Atwood's Apocalypses (2015). Other recent academic publications include articles on asexuality in Sherlock, time travel in Star Trek, and the ethics of religious cults in Doctor Who. Basically, she takes her geek passions, sprinkles in some theory, and calls it a successful work day.
