Yeah, this is the first really old-school exploitation-style zombie movie of the marathon and it goes for the gusto, with nearly every single female character getting naked in the first twenty minutes. And except for one young lady, I mean full frontal, usually with lots of water involved.
There are a lot of little things that really make this work; particularly a police officer with dreams of starting a pot farm, the undead's love of cigarettes, and how everyone keeps calling Vlad a pussy because he left medical school after being squeamish about dissecting corpses. There is also a boombox in this film that I would have killed for in Junior High.
This year kicks off with what unintentionally turned into an ode to low-budget filmmaking as we take a look at Zombie Girl: The Movie (US 2009, 91 min.) and Colin (UK 2008, 97 min.).By the way: HERE THERE BE SPOILERS!
In a bleak future that's a blend of World War II Europe and Tolkien's Middle-earth, a runty wizard (Bob Holt) must save the world from fascist mutants controlled by his evil twin brother (Steve Gravers), who likes to project films of Adolf Hitler speeches during attacks.
If there isn't a second season of this show, then the skies really should turn red and horrible monstrosities should rain down on us all (but starting with the execs at the BBC).
