Although meant to evoke an earlier era of sci-fi, Oblivion is easily the most forward-looking science-fiction film of the last few years, at least among the big Hollywood productions.
It took some of the best parts of the traditional, established style of the Muppets (breaking the fourth wall, sight gags), but integrated good changes that added a freshness to the characters.
Each episode seemed to get better than the one before it, and once we hit episode 5, "O.S.I. Love You" it's just a non-stop solid gold dance party in my head.
This is a beautiful film that forgot that it was supposed to tell a story. Except for a brief shining moment toward the end. And that's a different story than we were sold.
If you love horror and the grotesque as well as emotionally raw acting and virtuoso crafting, then Hannibal Season One is something you need to not only see, but to have on your shelf.
