Is it a good witch, or a bad witch?

It's clear that the Vampire Diaries brain trust has decamped to New Orleans this season.

While it's great to see Sebastian Roche whenever he's back in the cast, his one-note hatred for Klaus is so very tiresome.

Elijah spends most of the episode crusted in dirt and trying to pick up injured wolves.

Elijah is intent that the new signees of his treaty between the supernatural powers of New Orleans start playing nice with each other, even if he has to force them every step of the way.

It’s a pretty sexy episode all around.

There are some things I can’t get by in this episode.

Of course it all had to end.

How exactly her ghostly blood is nourishing to Klaus I don’t bother to ask.

This episode requires a sports metaphor. If only I knew any of those.

So only one episode of the dead dancing so far, but a memorable, inventive and entertaining one. Two witches to go!

While not really a mess, this episode was packed with so many role changes and reversals it was a little hard keeping up.

This is how you come back from a winter hiatus.

Klaus, Klaus, Klaus. Whatever can be done with you? Will you ever learn subtlety?

So, this episode was a lot of sound and fury signifying everything we already knew about Klaus, but now he’s got a better apartment?

On the cursed scale, she’s got nothing on Tyler Lockwood or Hayley, but then wolves usually have it bad.

Heavy-handed for any other show, but a leap in the right direction for this one, I’d say. They might even get in the ballpark of subtlety one day.

We've been treated to an overload of vampire flashbacks, and far fewer wolf worries, but while everybody's been talking about the witches, nobody's been talking to them.

This show is revealing its weaknesses too early.

Actually, the major point of the episode for me is the masked ball everyone attends, which gives Rebekah a chance to shine as a blonde ice queen in shimmering black.
