The music is great, and hearing a snowman sing about how awesome summer is going to be is hilarious. The jokes hit, the dialogue is snappy, and the animation is gorgeous.
What I really liked about this episode was the fact that it really explored the relationship between Renfield and Dracula, as both characters had flashbacks of their first meeting.
The bad guy is alive, talking smack, so Kennex shoots him in the fucking face. With no repercussions. Without even a single mention. Then the boys go out for beers and hopefully some cheap cop groupies.
Shout! Factory has done a remarkable job putting together these sets, from packaging to surprising special features, and this one has a bonus helping of extras to celebrate the show's legacy.
Yes, this is a blockbuster action film and teen romance, but thanks to careful allegiance to the source material and a screenplay that carefully balances social commentary with more conventional storytelling, it manages to do more than simply pander to a target demographic.
